141 轻蔑经
"诸比丘,世间存在着这五种人。哪五种呢?施与后轻蔑他人者、因共住而轻蔑他人者、轻信者、浮躁不定者、愚钝痴昧者。
"诸比丘,怎样的人是施与后轻蔑他人呢?诸比丘,在此,有一个人给予另一个人衣服、饮食、住所、病者所需之医药资具。他心中如此想:'是我给予的,是这个人接受的。'他因施与而轻蔑那个人。诸比丘,这就是施与后轻蔑他人的人。
"诸比丘,怎样的人是因共住而轻蔑他人呢?诸比丘,在此,有一个人与另一个人共住了两年或三年。他因共住而轻蔑那个人。诸比丘,这就是因共住而轻蔑他人的人。
"诸比丘,怎样的人是轻信者呢?诸比丘,在此,有某个人,当别人被赞美或被贬损时,他很快就相信了。诸比丘,这就是轻信者。
"诸比丘,怎样的人是浮躁不定者呢?诸比丘,在此,有某个人,其信仰是浅薄的,其热忱是浅薄的,其爱慕是浅薄的,其净信是浅薄的。诸比丘,这就是浮躁不定者。
"诸比丘,怎样的人是愚钝痴昧者呢?诸比丘,在此,有某个人,不了知善法与不善法,不了知有罪法与无罪法,不了知劣法与胜法,不了知有黑白对比之法。诸比丘,这就是愚钝痴昧者。诸比丘,世间存在着这五种人。"

142 努力经
"诸比丘,世间存在着这五种人。哪五种呢?
"诸比丘,在此,有某个人既努力精进又有后悔;而他不能如实了知那个心解脱、慧解脱——在其中,他那些已生起的恶不善法无余地灭尽。
"诸比丘,又在此,有某个人努力精进但没有后悔;而他不能如实了知那个心解脱、慧解脱——在其中,他那些已生起的恶不善法无余地灭尽。
"诸比丘,又在此,有某个人不努力精进但有后悔;而他不能如实了知那个心解脱、慧解脱——在其中,他那些已生起的恶不善法无余地灭尽。
"诸比丘,又在此,有某个人既不努力精进也没有后悔;而他不能如实了知那个心解脱、慧解脱——在其中,他那些已生起的恶不善法无余地灭尽。
"诸比丘,又在此,有某个人既不努力精进也没有后悔;而他能如实了知那个心解脱、慧解脱——在其中,他那些已生起的恶不善法无余地灭尽。
"诸比丘,在其中,那个既努力精进又有后悔的人,他不能如实了知那个心解脱、慧解脱——在其中,他那些已生起的恶不善法无余地灭尽——应当如此对他说:'尊者,你有由努力精进所生的烦恼存在,由后悔所生的烦恼在增长。善哉!愿尊者断除由努力精进所生的烦恼,消除由后悔所生的烦恼,修习心与慧。如此,尊者将与那第五种人相等。'
"诸比丘,在其中,那个努力精进但没有后悔的人,他不能如实了知那个心解脱、慧解脱——在其中,他那些已生起的恶不善法无余地灭尽——应当如此对他说:'尊者,你有由努力精进所生的烦恼存在,由后悔所生的烦恼没有增长。善哉!愿尊者断除由努力精进所生的烦恼,修习心与慧。如此,尊者将与那第五种人相等。'
"诸比丘,在其中,那个不努力精进但有后悔的人,他不能如实了知那个心解脱、慧解脱——在其中,他那些已生起的恶不善法无余地灭尽——应当如此对他说:'尊者,你没有由努力精进所生的烦恼,由后悔所生的烦恼在增长。善哉!愿尊者消除由后悔所生的烦恼,修习心与慧。如此,尊者将与那第五种人相等。'
"诸比丘,在其中,那个既不努力精进也没有后悔的人,他不能如实了知那个心解脱、慧解脱——在其中,他那些已生起的恶不善法无余地灭尽——应当如此对他说:'尊者,你没有由努力精进所生的烦恼,由后悔所生的烦恼也没有增长。善哉!愿尊者修习心与慧。如此,尊者将与那第五种人相等。'
"诸比丘,如此,这前面四种人被那第五种人如此教诫、如此教导后,就能逐渐达到诸烦恼的灭尽。"
第二经。
143 萨兰达达经
一时,世尊住在毗舍离大林中的重阁讲堂。那时,世尊于上午穿好衣服,持钵着衣,进入毗舍离城乞食。当时,约有五百位离车族人聚集在萨兰达达神庙中,坐在一起时,他们之间生起了这样的谈论:
"五种宝物在世间出现是难得的。哪五种呢?象宝在世间出现是难得的,马宝在世间出现是难得的,摩尼宝在世间出现是难得的,女宝在世间出现是难得的,居士宝在世间出现是难得的。这五种宝物在世间出现是难得的。"
那时,那些离车族人在路上安排了一个人,说道:"喂,朋友,当你看到世尊到来时,就来告知我们。"那个人远远地看见世尊走来;看见后,就来到那些离车族人处;到达后,对那些离车族人如此说道:"大德们,那位世尊、阿罗汉、正等正觉者正在走来。现在是你们认为适当的时候了。"
那时,那些离车族人就前往世尊所在之处;到达后,顶礼世尊,站在一旁。站在一旁的那些离车族人对世尊如此说道:
"大德,善哉!愿世尊出于慈愍前往萨兰达达神庙。"世尊以沉默表示同意。然后,世尊前往萨兰达达神庙;到达后,在为他铺设好的座位上坐下。坐下后,世尊对那些离车族人如此说道:
"离车族人啊,你们刚才坐在一起讨论什么话题呢?你们之间未完成的谈论是什么呢?"
"大德,在此,我们聚集在一起坐着时,我们之间生起了这样的谈论:'五种宝物在世间出现是难得的。哪五种呢?象宝在世间出现是难得的,马宝在世间出现是难得的,摩尼宝在世间出现是难得的,女宝在世间出现是难得的,居士宝在世间出现是难得的。这五种宝物在世间出现是难得的。'"
"离车族人啊,你们这些耽于欲乐的离车族人,关于欲乐的谈论果然在你们之间生起了。离车族人啊,有五种宝物在世间出现是难得的。哪五种呢?如来、阿罗汉、正等正觉者在世间出现是难得的;能宣说如来所开示之法与律的人在世间是难得的;能领悟如来所开示之法与律的人在世间是难得的;能领悟如来所开示之法与律并且依法随法修行的人在世间是难得的;知恩报恩的人在世间是难得的。离车族人啊,这五种宝物在世间出现是难得的。"

141. “Pañcime bhikkhave, puggalā santo saṃvijjamānā lokasmiṃ. Katame pañca? Datvā avajānāti, saṃvāsena avajānāti, ādheyyamukho hoti, lolo hoti, mando momūho hoti.
“Kathañca, bhikkhave, puggalo datvā avajānāti? Idha, bhikkhave, puggalo puggalassa deti cīvarapiṇḍapātasenāsanagilānappaccayabhesajjaparikkhāraṃ. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘ahaṃ demi; ayaṃ paṭiggaṇhātī’ti. Tamenaṃ datvā avajānāti. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, puggalo datvā avajānāti.
“Kathañca bhikkhave, puggalo saṃvāsena avajānāti? Idha bhikkhave, puggalo puggalena saddhiṃ saṃvasati dve vā tīṇi vā vassāni. Tamenaṃ saṃvāsena avajānāti. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, puggalo saṃvāsena avajānāti.
“Kathañca, bhikkhave, puggalo ādheyyamukho hoti? Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco puggalo parassa vaṇṇe vā avaṇṇe vā bhāsiyamāne taṃ khippaññeva adhimuccitā hoti. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, puggalo ādheyyamukho hoti.
“Kathañca, bhikkhave, puggalo lolo hoti? Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco puggalo ittarasaddho hoti ittarabhattī ittarapemo ittarappasādo. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, puggalo lolo hoti.
“Kathañca, bhikkhave, puggalo mando momūho hoti? Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco puggalo kusalākusale dhamme na jānāti, sāvajjānavajje dhamme na jānāti, hīnappaṇīte dhamme na jānāti kaṇhasukkasappaṭibhāge dhamme na jānāti. 143. Ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā vesāliyaṃ viharati mahāvane kūṭāgārasālāyaṃ. Atha kho bhagavā pubbaṇhasamayaṃ nivāsetvā pattacīvaramādāya vesāliṃ piṇḍāya pāvisi. Tena kho pana samayena pañcamattānaṃ licchavisatānaṃ sārandade cetiye sannisinnānaṃ sannipatitānaṃ ayamantarākathā udapādi– “pañcannaṃ ratanānaṃ pātubhāvo dullabho lokasmiṃ. Katamesaṃ pañcannaṃ? Hatthiratanassa pātubhāvo dullabho lokasmiṃ, assaratanassa pātubhāvo dullabho lokasmiṃ, maṇiratanassa pātubhāvo dullabho lokasmiṃ, itthiratanassa pātubhāvo dullabho lokasmiṃ, gahapatiratanassa pātubhāvo dullabho lokasmiṃ. Imesaṃ pañcannaṃ ratanānaṃ pātubhāvo dullabho lokasmin”ti.
Atha kho te licchavī magge purisaṃ ṭhapesuṃ – “yadā tvaṃ, ambho purisa, passeyyāsi bhagavantaṃ, atha amhākaṃ āroceyyāsī”ti. Addasā kho so puriso bhagavantaṃ dūratova āgacchantaṃ; disvāna yena te licchavī tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā te licchavī etadavoca– “ayaṃ so, bhante, bhagavā gacchati arahaṃ sammāsambuddho; yassadāni kālaṃ maññathā”ti.
Atha kho te licchavī yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkamiṃsu; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ aṭṭhaṃsu. Ekamantaṃ ṭhitā kho te licchavī bhagavantaṃ etadavocuṃ–
“Sādhu, bhante, yena sārandadaṃ cetiyaṃ tenupasaṅkamatu anukampaṃ upādāyā”ti. Adhivāsesi bhagavā tuṇhībhāvena. Atha kho bhagavā yena sārandadaṃ cetiyaṃ tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā paññatte āsane nisīdi. Nisajja kho bhagavā te licchavī etadavoca– “kāya nuttha, licchavī, etarahi kathāya sannisinnā, kā ca pana vo antarākathā vippakatā”ti? “Idha, bhante, amhākaṃ sannisinnānaṃ sannipatitānaṃ ayamantarākathā udapādi– ‘pañcannaṃ ratanānaṃ pātubhāvo dullabho lokasmiṃ. Katamesaṃ pañcannaṃ Hatthiratanassa pātubhāvo dullabho lokasmiṃ, assaratanassa pātubhāvo dullabho lokasmiṃ, maṇiratanassa pātubhāvo dullabho lokasmiṃ, itthiratanassa pātubhāvo dullabho lokasmiṃ, gahapatiratanassa pātubhāvo dullabho lokasmiṃ.
