28 皮经:

佛陀住在舍卫城......"比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声是可怕的。比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声会割破皮肤,割破皮肤后会割破表皮,割破表皮后会割破肉,割破肉后会割破筋,割破筋后会割破骨,割破骨后会深入骨髓。比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声就是如此可怕...因此,比丘们,你们应当如此学习。"这是第八经。


29 绳经:

佛陀住在舍卫城......"比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声是可怕的。比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声会割破皮肤,割破皮肤后会割破表皮,割破表皮后会割破肉,割破肉后会割破筋,割破筋后会割破骨,割破骨后会深入骨髓。"


"比丘们,就像一个强壮的人用坚韧的皮绳缠绕小腿并摩擦,会割破皮肤,割破皮肤后会割破表皮,割破表皮后会割破肉,割破肉后会割破筋,割破筋后会割破骨,最后深入骨髓。同样地,比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声会割破皮肤,割破皮肤后会割破表皮,割破表皮后会割破肉,割破肉后会割破筋,割破筋后会割破骨,割破骨后会深入骨髓。比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声就是如此可怕...因此,比丘们,你们应当如此学习。"这是第九经。


30 比丘经:

佛陀住在舍卫城......"比丘们,即使是已证得阿罗汉果、漏尽的比丘,我也说利养、恭敬和名声会成为他的障碍。"


听到这话,尊者阿难问世尊:"世尊,为什么利养、恭敬和名声会成为漏尽比丘的障碍呢?"


"阿难,我并不是说它们会障碍他已证得的不动心解脱。但是阿难,对于那些不放逸、精进、专注修行而获得现法乐住的比丘来说,我说利养、恭敬和名声会成为他们的障碍。阿难,利养、恭敬和名声是如此可怕、苦涩、粗糙,会妨碍证得无上解脱。因此,阿难,应当这样学习:'我们要断除已生起的利养、恭敬和名声,不让已生起的利养、恭敬和名声占据我们的心。'阿难,你们应当如此学习。"这是第十经。

32 善根经:

佛陀住在舍卫城......"比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声是可怕的。比丘们,提婆达多被利养、恭敬和名声所征服,心被占据,因此断绝了善根。比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声就是如此可怕...应当如此学习。"这是第二经。


33 善法经:

佛陀住在舍卫城......"比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声是可怕的。比丘们,提婆达多被利养、恭敬和名声所征服,心被占据,因此断绝了善法。比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声就是如此可怕...应当如此学习。"这是第三经。


34 白法经:

佛陀住在舍卫城......"比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声是可怕的。比丘们,提婆达多被利养、恭敬和名声所征服,心被占据,因此断绝了白法。比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声就是如此可怕...应当如此学习。"这是第四经。


35 离去不久经:

一时,佛陀住在王舍城耆阇崛山,这是在提婆达多离去不久后。那时,世尊因提婆达多的事而告诉比丘们:"比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声生起时导致提婆达多自取灭亡,导致提婆达多衰败。"


"比丘们,就像芭蕉结果会导致自身毁灭,会导致衰败;同样地,利养、恭敬和名声生起时导致提婆达多自取灭亡,导致提婆达多衰败。"


"比丘们,就像竹子结果会导致自身毁灭,会导致衰败;同样地,利养、恭敬和名声生起时导致提婆达多自取灭亡,导致提婆达多衰败。"


"比丘们,就像芦苇结果会导致自身毁灭,会导致衰败;同样地,利养、恭敬和名声生起时导致提婆达多自取灭亡,导致提婆达多衰败。"


"比丘们,就像骡子怀孕会导致自身毁灭,会导致衰败;同样地,利养、恭敬和名声生起时导致提婆达多自取灭亡,导致提婆达多衰败。比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声就是如此可怕。因此,比丘们,你们应当如此学习。"


世尊说了这些话。说完这些后,善逝、导师又说了这些偈颂:


"果实毁坏芭蕉,

果实毁坏竹与芦苇,

名利毁坏卑劣之人,

如同胎儿毁坏母骡。"
